Our Mission

The In Better Health (IBH) Foundation is dedicated to promoting successful aging by empowering seniors and veterans throughout Palm Beach County with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to live healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives. Through initiatives that address affordable housing and homelessness, combat food insecurity with access to nutritious meals, and reduce social isolation by fostering meaningful connections and wellness, we are committed to building stronger, more resilient communities where every older adult can age with dignity, purpose, and hope.

Services/Programs:

Affordable Housing and Homelessness Prevention

  • Housing navigation and placement assistance

  • Rental and utility assistance referrals

  • Homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing support

  • Benefits enrollment (VA, HUD, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI)

  • Financial literacy and budgeting workshops

 

Food Security and Nutrition

  • Home-delivered meals for seniors and homebound veterans

  • Nutrition education and healthy cooking classes

  • Community gardening and sustainable food preservation training

  • Health screenings and nutrition counseling 

 

Social Connection and Wellness: Transitioning from Active Duty to Civilian Life

  • Veteran peer support groups and mentoring

  • Transition coaching and life skills development

  • Mental health and wellness workshops

  • Community engagement, volunteer opportunities, and social activities

  • Digital literacy training to increase social connectedness

Elderly Veteran Honored
  • 32,495 U.S. Veterans are experiencing homelessness (0.17% of this population is here in Palm Beach County).

  • 1 in 9 working-age Veterans experience food insecurity.

  • 250 million men and women leave or retire from the U.S. military service and return to civilian life each year.

  • 34% of U.S. veterans have at least one characteristic associated with social isolation.

  • About 21% of people experiencing homelessness are older adults ages 55+.

  • 1 in 10 adults age 50 and older experienced food insecurity in 2024 representing approximately 12.7 million people.

  • Approximately 1 in 10 adults age 60 and older in the United States experience elder abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation each year. Because only about 1 in 24 cases are reported, the actual number of victims is believed to be substantially higher.

  • 24% community dwelling adults age 65 and older are considered socially isolated.
